Physiotherapy treatment

Who can we help?

Physiotherapy can be used to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions and symptoms. At Novie Clinic, we specialise in MSK conditions- anything to do with muscles and joints!  Take a look below to see some examples of the conditions we can help treat.

1

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition of the joints where the cartilage becomes inflamed and breaks down. it can cause swelling, pain and stiffness in the joint, although some people have no symptoms at all! Common in joints like the knee, hip, fingers, spine and shoulder, however it can occur at any joint.

3

Sciatica and other nerve impingements

Characterised as a shooting pain down your leg, sciatica is one of the more common nerve impingements which occurs when something is squeezing on the sciatic nerve. It can also cause other symptoms such as pins and needles, numbness and weakness in the leg. Nerve impingements can also occur in other areas, such as the neck which causes similar symptoms down your arm.

5

Post-operative rehabilitation

Having quick and efficient rehab after an operation is key to having the smoothest recovery and getting back to what you enjoy. Most common post-op clients we see are knee/hip replacements, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs and shoulder replacements.

Treatments like lymphatic drainage massage and personalised exercise session are a great way to help after surgery.

2

Tendinopathy and tendonitis

Tendinopathy or tendonitis, are commonly interchanged phases but are very similar conditions. They both are inflammation of a tendon- the main tissue helping support a joint. It can cause swelling, pain, redness and difficulties with walking/activities.

Common examples are Plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow or Achilles tendinopathy.

4

Sports injuries

Sporting injuries are very common, from overuse injuries in sports like tennis, to shin splints in runners to ligament damage in footballers. When considering sport injures, we not only want to help improve the pain and function, but also reduce the risk of this injury occurring again once you return to sport.

Pre and Post-natal care

Pregnancy and postpartum can be a joyous time, but it does come with its complications. From Pelvic girdle pain and sciatica during pregnancy, to Coccydynia, diastasis recti and dealing with             c-section recovery post birth. We have a wide range of services available to help aid you through the journey of motherhood!
